As I started looking through gear reviews, tech talk and the current state of the NIke Alphafly drama, I realized that there’s a ton of information out there that doesn’t take into consideration where a lot of runners are starting from. Even as someone who has worked in running for almost 20 years, a lot of the articles and information was geared to more advanced runners. Read: running geeks. So I started working backwards to see if there was a starting line. There isn’t, so I’m going to create it.
I thought I’d look through the interwebs of things and roll out some of the sites I thought a beginner would use. I thought I’d do a site per month for a bit. You can dig through as you like, but it’s at least a great place to start.
The first stop of most runners, regardless of where you are in your career, starts at www.runnersworld.com. It used to be just a magazine but I haven’t had a physical copy in a long time. It does have a full on beginners section as well as a plethora of information on everything from nutrition, to running as we age and everything in between. The only downside is like most sites, there is a pay to play component for some contact. I have yet to pay so the value of such is to be determined.
Dig in, read away and happy running.
